A couple of years ago, I realized that I had not been making myself my top priority.  I really felt like I needed my business to be ultra successful before I treated myself to  really nice things.  This was so extreme that when I moved back out on my own (my sister and I tried living together for a while to save  money and build our business) that I didn’t buy any furniture for over a year!

However I am a Diva at heart and I just could not go on any longer living that way.  We goddesses need beautiful surroundings to compliment our inner beauty.  Why do all this work to be fabulous, peaceful, and satisfied, only to live like a broke college student?!

So I made a commitment to myself to  spruce things up a bit (It should be noted that being fabulous does not mean spending a lot of money).  I needed a new bed and new living room seating.  I found the bed at IKEA!!  It just so happened that in 2007, Ikea FINALLY opened a store in Michigan.  So that June I was one of the first 500 lucky Ikea-heads to check out the new spot.  I was happy I had a fabulous platform bed on which to rest (much better than a mattress on the floor).

Then on to the seating.  Ikea was cool, but nothing was speaking to me.  Then one day at a popular furniture store in the D, I was up in the clearance section and my sofa & love-seat where sitting there waiting for me!  They were red and FABULOUS!!!!  Plus they were only $550, for both!!  Yes I know, “who buys a red couch?”  I DO!!   I put them on price hold and in a couple of weeks my new sofas were delivered to my loft (which was starting to shape up nicely I might add).

It’s been a couple of years now and I still love my couches.  They did a year in storage when I first moved here b/c I moved in with a friend my first year and the apartment was already furnished, but last August when I moved into my fabulous studio with the ridiculous view of the Lake, I was renunited with all my stuff!

Today I got an email from a friend of mine titled “apparently you got a great deal”  I follow the link and guess what I see?  My sofas, for a whole lot more than what I paid!

I LOOOVE to win and winning is what being A DIVA is all about!
